Let the smashing of cake begin!

Friends, I know we all get the urge every once in a while to dive into a cake mouth first… and guess what? Your little one can! First birthday cake smash portraits are a fun and memorable photoshoot designed to let loose and let those candid messy moments shine. 

At this age they are starting to come into their personalities, which is what makes this kind of photoshoot so fun for me as the photographer and you as the family.

The session starts with some personality portraits and quickly moves into snapshots of the cake frenzy! Some little ones go straight for the handful and others are a little more cautious before their taste test, the chaos varies but the smiles are always pure joy. And if there are tears and overwhelm with the cake smash itself it’s ok, because we follow everything up with a fruit bath and babes almost always feel relaxed enough to splash and play. I find it all to be such a silly and playful representation of the people they are becoming, alongside a fun-for-the-whole-family memory you get to cherish forever. 

From the very start, this type of photoshoot is in your hands. From color, to prop ideas, and overall theme, you get to choose what best fits your little one’s interests or aesthetic. Whether you’re feeling pinks and purples or have more specific ideas, like vintage sailor motifs, my goal is to make your dream come to life. Every cake smash session comes with a custom and unique backdrop that you get to take home after! It’s great for decorating for their birthday party, or hanging in their room.
