Newborn Safety is #1

When you trust me with your newborn, their safety will always come before getting the perfect photo. That’s true with every baby who comes into my Canton studio—and it’s especially important when I have the privilege of photographing twins or multiples!

Every newborn session includes safe, baby-led posing, careful monitoring while baby is wrapped, and hands-on support whenever needed. Your baby is never placed in a position that isn’t safe or comfortable just for the sake of a photo.

Photographing Twins & Multiples

When I’m photographing more than one newborn, I always make sure there is an extra set of hands available. That may be a spotter or Mom or Dad if they’re comfortable helping. This allows us to keep one baby safe and happy while I’m photographing the other—and makes those sweet photos of the babies together much safer.

It also gives us a little flexibility because, as adorable as twins are, they don’t always get the memo that they’re supposed to sleep at the same time! One baby may need to eat, be changed, or get some extra snuggles while I photograph the other.

Safe Posing Comes First

You may have seen photos of twins “stacked” or posed on top of one another. Some older posing techniques simply aren’t safe for newborns, who don’t yet have the strength or control to support themselves.

I only use poses that safely support each baby’s head, neck, body, and airway. For certain images, a spotter and I may keep our hands on the babies and create the finished photograph safely through careful positioning and editing.

At the end of the day, your newborn photographer should do more than create beautiful pictures. They should be someone you feel completely comfortable trusting with your baby.
