First birthdays are so special, and what is a better way to celebrate than a cake all to yourself? Ok but what if my child is shy? Not the mess making cake smashing type… can they still take part?  Absolutely!

Cake smash sessions are a fun and candid way to showcase your little one's growing personality and celebrate who they are becoming. That doesn’t leave out children who are reserved or shy. Big, messy grins are great, but so are tiny smiles and curious glances at the balloons. These aren’t one size fits all sessions; they are individually tailored time for your child to shine exactly as they are. 

With a one and a half hour studio session, I don’t rush. I take my time, making sure your child feels comfortable, safe, and relaxed in the environment. We can sit on the floor and talk first as I get candid shots. Hi, I’m Cindy. Why don’t we look around! Oh, is that balloons? Hmm, I wonder what the cake tastes like. It looks really yummy! Whoa, is that your favorite color? If they warm up, then great! And if they don’t… I will not make a part of who they are into an obstacle to overcome. It’s not. It’s a joy to capture their personality, even when that personality is shy! 

I was a shy child myself, and can still be shy as an adult, so I understand the feeling, and with many years of photo shoots with every kind of child’s personality, I know they all deserve to be cherished. A huge part of what I do is truly candid, not making families feel like they have to be strictly posed or ‘just-right camera-ready’.
