Newborn Session | Baby Everleigh
Why do I love working with newborns? They are each so different but so similar. I love celebrating the growth of a family with the parents. I love delighting in the details of the newest member of their family. I love oohing and aahing over the sounds they make…the grunts, cries, coos. I love laughing along with the parents at the vast number of facial expressions babies make during our session together…smiles, grumpy, hungry, tired, eye rolling and more! And with each baby being different but the same, all of these normal things are like experiencing them for the first time for me. Each and every time!

What can I say about newborns? Well…I can say a lot, actually! I love how they are each different. Their details make up the unique individual that they are and I am here for all of it! The smiles. The lashes (or no lashes). The grumpy face. The furrowed brow. The hairline. The hair (or lack of hair). The lips. The toes. The fingers. I can go on and on, so I will spare you. Just know each detail is so important and I strive to capture them all!

Baby leads our time together. Have you ever tried to reason with a baby? Fought with a baby to get your way? While you may eventually win, it’s much easier to listen to baby and adjust according to their comfort. It is definitely not unusual to see me adjust what I am doing for the happiness and safety of the baby.

When you are expecting, there are so many emotions swirling through the air, as well as changes to your body almost daily, it seems. There’s excitement about the miracle that is happening within your body. There is the need to pee constantly. (I know I just heard some amens, LOL!!) There are the outward signs of pregnancy like baby bump, swelling of ankles and other areas, and the curve in the back as baby grows. The crazy cravings. Nausea. And more! It’s no wonder that expectant mamas can feel sickly, large, overwhelmed, and just overall uncomfortable.

Baby's First Year | Smash Cake Session
If you have been to a baby’s first birthday party, you may have witnessed the baby squishing and smashing a small baby-sized cake while a group of their loved ones are standing around, watching the destruction of that beautiful, tiny cake, cheering on the massacre, and just enjoying the overall show of cake droppings, icing smears, cake tossing, etc. It’s quite the spectacle. Have you ever tried putting together a charcuterie board? I have. I am a creative. I love creating. I love taking pieces of puzzles and throwing them together, sometimes in unexpected ways, and marveling in the art that was created. Charcuterie boards are no different.
